Nestled on the French Riviera between Nice and Cannes, the old town of Antibes borders the Mediterranean Sea and is bursting with color. These are particularly enhanced in the free commune of Safranier: the cream-colored facades are bordered by lush vegetation in a vast palette of pink, yellow, green, red, purple, and more. This part of old Antibes, surrounded by ramparts, offers beautiful perspectives for strolls between the quiet, shaded streets, dotted with Provençal shutters.
Continue this bucolic escape to the Cap d'Antibes at the small port of Olivette, where multicolored pointus (pointu) fish waltz by, like a postcard from the Côte d'Azur. The more athletic among you can put on your hiking boots to explore the surrounding trails, starting with the famous Chemin des Douaniers, also known as Tire-Poil, 5 km long, stretching across the entire cape. A sumptuous route facing the shades of blue bordering the steep rock, punctuated by the song of the cicadas and the delicious scents of the pine forest! After the effort, there's nothing like a swim in the crystal-clear sea: the Cap d'Antibes is home to remarkable beaches for snorkeling. Bordered by a long stretch of sand, they are instead full of rocks once you enter the water, which considerably favors the emergence of aquatic life. Isolated coves are also nestled along the route.
Continue your journey to Antibes city center to discover some of its major cultural sites. The Picasso Museum, housed within the majestic Grimaldi Castle, which reveals an immense stone robe overlooking the sea, has some of the artist's major works: The Joy of Living, Satyr and Faun were created in Antibes when the painter stayed there.
