Le Cannet is a major commune in the Alpes-Maritimes region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. It is located just two kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, bordering Cannes and Vallauris. Nicknamed the Madeira of France, it offers a beautiful panorama of the Lérins Islands offshore. Occupied since Roman times, the town of Le Cannet grew in the 15th century with the settlement of families from Italy at the request of the monks of Lérins. It gained its independence from Cannes and Mougins in 1774, by decree of Louis XVI, which allowed its economic development in the following century. However, it was not until the beginning of the 20th century that Le Cannet revealed its current appearance. A very touristy town due to its geographical location and its weather, the town of Le Cannet is also appreciated for its rich architectural and historical heritage, which earns it a large tourist influx during the summer months.
