Le Cannet is a major commune in the Alpes-Maritimes region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. It is located just two kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, bordering Cannes and Vallauris. Nicknamed the Madeira of France, it offers a beautiful panorama of the Lérins Islands offshore. Occupied since Roman times, the town of Le Cannet developed in the 15th century with the settlement of families from Italy at the request of the monks of Lérins. It gained its independence from Cannes and Mougins in 1774, by decree of Louis XVI, which allowed its economic development in the following century. However, it was not until the beginning of the 20th century that Le Cannet revealed its current appearance.
